The Green Bay Packers have signed superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a contract extension, the team announced Friday.
Details of the deal were not released, but Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentineltweets the extension is for five years and $110 million, making it the largest contract in NFL history.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Rodgers will receive $40 million in the deal's first year.
“Aaron is a true professional and a special player,” Packers GM Ted Thompson said in a statement. “He works hard, is humble, and is focused on his actions, on and off the field. He is an excellent teammate and pushes himself and others to be the very best. We are happy to reach an agreement to extend his career with the Packers.”
