Miguel Ortega and Gloria Martinez were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and public intoxication at McCandles Road Camp Sites at Lake San Antonio on Saturday.Deputies said they were called to the scene after Ortega was found to be intoxicated, belligerent and combative with park rangers and medics.Ortega gave several false names, resisted lawful direction and tried to flee the scene, sheriff's officials said.Meanwhile, Martinez was found passed out in the front seat of a vehicle near where Ortega was found. The 10-month-old child was in the rear seat of the vehicle.A further investigation showed that the parents did not have food or shelter for the child, and had become so intoxicated that they could not care for themselves or the 10-month-old, deputies said.Martinez and Ortega were booked at the Monterey County Jail, while the child was placed in protective custody with Monterey County Social Services.
